In his performance for the Fruitful FM, Samm Anga will be performing a new series of works that transpose the functional repetition of folk music into the rich hypnotic wonder of bass music. Modulating synth textures undulate and swirl in constant symbiosis, weathered voices cut through the mix, and Anga pushes each laden frequency with his usual fervour.
Samm Anga is a composer, performer, and multimedia artist specialising in sound art and the moving image. An alumni of the London College of Communication MA Sound Arts course, he is constantly interrogating the multi-faceted identity of sound in the Anthropocene. Born in Nigeria and moving to Kent, aged eight, he straddles the ever-complex tussle between Western and Indigenous values, science and spirituality, futurism and nostalgia.
